Thick ebony garrotes flat sticks were used in the Philippines in the past for self defense or in lieu of bladed weapons. Made from kamagong or Makassar ebony, it is hard and heavy for its size. The total length is 26 inches. It has oval cross section at one end and serves as the handle which is 6” long and slightly over 1” thick. From the handle the cross section becomes more flat and tapers towards the end to 5/8” thick.

Garrotes are also an excellent tool for training prior to using a bolo, machete or a short sword. The oval handle and tapered edge are directional similar to a sword not found in a round training stick. The heavier weight of the kamagong wood helps familiarize the practitioner with the heavier weight of a bladed weapon.

These Garrotes are slightly heavier than the standard model due to darker wood and are slightly harder. Average weight is 1 lb.  Sold one each.
